Our love of ballooning provides us with the opportunity to meet many wonderful people who serve as our retrieve crew. All Balloonists know how indispensable good crew members are to the total positive ballooning experience.
From deployment to recovery, the ground support team becomes our eyes and ears. They assist us with our equipment layout, riggers and crown line controller, as public relations director, traffic cop and social director. And of course, they handle the all important part of finding the balloon when it has landed.
Earn Free Flights
Balloon Safaris is always looking for crew people. For every five flights, you’ll earn a gift certificate for a 1-hour ride. You can take the ride yourself, or give the gift certificate to someone else. Or, if you’re interested in becoming a pilot, you can trade crew time for flight instruction.
The qualifications are pretty simple. You must be physically fit and willing to work. We prefer crew members possess a valid driver’s license and be over 18 years of age. Being a crew person involves heavy lifting and occasional running. Because this is our business, we also expect crew to dress appropriately. That means sturdy shoes (no sandals), a casual shirt (golf shirts are great), and natural materials. No polyester, nylon or polar fleece. Everyone is required to wear gloves, which we will provide.
For those of you interested in learning more about ballooning, you will find a wealth of information on the Balloon Federation of America web site and on our Internet Links page.
